Cheeseboard drop-off! Fresh honey comb added!

Cheeseboard drop off! 
Our cheese boards are always generously presented with some extra added treats... 
Today we added fresh honey comb - goes really well with aged cheeses with some "nuttiness" like Parmigiano-Reggiano, a tangy Cheddar or a gorgeous Gruyere. 

Honey (especially a lavender /thyme or orange blossom one) also works really well with fresh creamy cheeses like Ricotta, goat cheese or feta. 

For the perfect match with your blue cheese - use a more subtle flavoured honey - the mellow sweetness will cut the saltiness from the cheese perfectly!

Cannellini beans dip / spread galore!

2 minute cannellini bean dip that goes with everything! 
2 tins of cannellini beans (rinsed and drained) - add fresh parsley, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice (fresh if possible), salt and pepper to your mixer - whizz until smooth - serve as a dip or spread! Nutty fresh flavour!

24 hour Sweden visit - for a great meal. 
Maybe the best meal ever....

On Saturday half of Mrs.Sw13 (Caroline) flew to Sweden for a prelaunch of the new spring menu by Swedish Michelin star chef Daniel Berlin (which is also the name of his restaurant. All of this was executed to perfection - and in a gorgeous pink castle: Boo slott.... Professional, gastronomic fairytale moment for sure!

Daniel Berlin is one of Sweden's most highly rated chefs, producing stunning innovative dishes in his small 14-cover restaurant in southern Sweden. He has often been described as a genius by restaurant critics.

One of Daniel Berlin's signature dishes (served on this evening - YAY!) is a whole cricket-ball-sized blackened celeriac, usually brought to the table with its skin gently smouldering. The flesh is scooped out and laid on a bowl of sago grains before being drizzled with Vasterbottenost sauce. All this is the result of cooking the celeriac for 6-8 hours, by which time it become quite meaty and earthy. In true Berlin style, nothing is wasted: he uses the blacked skin in his sourdough.

Thank you Sandra and Carl-Fredrik for hosting this amazing evening! Wonderful food, awesome chefs and utterly impressive staff during the evening that made this so special.

Baked Tomato, Feta & Garlic - gorgeously tasty!

I cooked this at my local Arts centre the other day - a mouthwatering win! Baked Tomato, Feta & Garlic
If you’ve never baked feta before, get ready for a really great taste and texture sensation!
3-4 Large tomatoes, halved horizontally + some cherry / cocktail tomatoes (on the vine if you have), 400g Feta cheese, 2 Whole head of garlic, halved horizontally, a few sprigs of thyme or rosemary - season well with salt and pepper, caster sugar to sprinkle on top, olive oil and a squeeze of lemon.
HOW TO MAKE IT:
Pre-heat oven to 180C
Arrange the large tomatoes cut-side-up on the tray, then add the cherry tomatoes, feta, garlic and thyme. Season well with salt and pepper, sprinkle the tomatoes with sugar, then drizzle all over with olive oil and a little lemon juice
Bake for 45 minutes until the feta and garlic is golden
Remove from the oven and serve warm or at room temperature. Drizzle with more olive oil if served with bread, pasta or with fresh green leaves / spinach / kale… Gorgeously tasty!

CALLING ALL ARTICHOKE LOVERS!

CALLING ALL ARTICHOKE LOVERS!
Easy, quick and very yummy artichoke and lemon "pesto". Great as dip or spread - perfect for a cheese board! Or mix with pasta (mix hot cooked pasta with some pesto, sprinkle with some grated Parmesan cheese)

1 can artichoke hearts, 1 dl grated Parmesan cheese,1.25 dl olive oil (might have to add some more), 4 peeled cloves garlic, a handful fresh flat leaf chopped parsley, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 1 tbsp freshly grated lemon rind, a handful of almonds or cashew nuts (or both) - add salt and pepper to taste. Mix all of the ingredients in a food processor until smooth. Enjoy!

Today Mrs.SW13 catered and decorated a "spy"-themed 10th birthday party at OSO Arts Centre in Barnes. 
Lots of fun! Super cool spy-themed decoration in 3 rooms / studios (all with slight different look) and a gorgeous healthy buffet!

WOW! What a party! All in - full on!

WOW what a party! Burlesque theme with live band, can can dancers, DJ, lots of food, oyster bar with vodka shots and lots and lots of cocktails! Sassy, dapper, gorgeous - fabolous guests that made this party such a great evening! Awesome event to work with! Happy birthday Andreas!

 
Some of the food we served at yesterday's 40th burlesque birthday bash! Lobster tail and grilled asparagus, dill coated gravlax (with a mustard, dill and creme-cheese spread), squid (with fresh flavourful tandori salsa and quinoa), crayfish tails (with a hot tomato sauce and a mix of super grains), a mix of 160 fresh oysters (from our super epic local fishmongers on the high street - all eaten!), smoked salmon (with horseradish and garlic cream cheese spread - topped with black roe), tiger prawns (with a hot sauce pipette), Swedish Skagen (prawns), hot smoked salmon (with a mixed salad and a mango chili dressing).... seafood extravaganza buffet! 

  
Midnight snack - Hot dogs, gorgeous cheese-platter with all extras, mixed fresh breads with dips.... That was us done! The party continued for hours after that.... Thank you Andreas and Henrietta for choosing Mrs.SW13 as your event planner and caterer!

Burlesque 40th bash - and 10th spy party galore!

We love the diversity in our daily work! 
Today (after flower market trip at 6am!) we have filled 150 test tubes with vodka to go in the freezer - ready for a bespoke oyster bar this weekend - and we have designed custom personal backdrop and prints for a 10th spy themed birthday party next weekend! Creative awesomeness!
